Three Can’t Miss Events at This Year’s Festival
From crabbing, shrimping, and oyster shucking to learning your way in becoming a pitmaster, this year’s Hilton Head Island Seafood Festival will put your cooking (and tasting) skills to the test. With past favorites and new fetes alike, we’re excited to bring you the best of the best of the seafood world and celebrate the southern way (it’s the only way we know how). And to get your culinary palette ready, we’ve rounded up a few of our “can’t miss” events for the festivities February 22-25, 2018. Now cast a line and grab those tickets before they’re gone!
Lowcountry Seafood Experience on the Water
Would it really be a seafood festival if there weren’t at least one excursion out on the water? We’re kicking off this year’s festivities by covering all our seafood bases with a quintessential lowcountry experience in the sea. Join a couple of the region’s most notable watermen, Christopher and Matthew Shoemaker, for a two-hour outing and demonstration on shrimping, oystering, clamming, and crabbing. Don’t worry, it’s not all work and no play, once the job’s done, guests can enjoy the fresh, fruits of their labor at Hudson’s on the Docks. Count us in!

You heard us right. Seafood may be our preferred main dish, but if there’s anything that goes best with those sea dishes, it’s some good ol’ southern slow roasting. This year, learn the ins and outs of slow roasting, smoking, and grilling by award-winning pitmasters. While they’re getting in some last-minute practice for the Pig Pickin’ & Oyster Roast on Friday, February 23, you can get personal instruction and take note on their techniques. Who knows, maybe it’ll be you teaching us a thing or two next year.

James Beard Foundation's Celebrity Chef Tour
When we go new, we go big. You won’t want to miss the inaugural event, bringing together the crème of the culinary crop. Award-winning James Beard Foundation chefs will be serving the distinguished, boundary-pushing tastings of the big city to our small-town island home. This one-night-only event is a multi-course dinner and experience you won’t be able to find anywhere else. Looking to make it truly unforgettable?
